Ikramul Hasan Sakil has made history by completing the ambitious “Sea to Summit” expedition in just 84 days—six days ahead of his 90-day goal. Starting from the plastic-polluted shores of Inani Beach in Cox’s Bazar, Sakil walked over 1,300 kilometers through Bangladesh, India, and Nepal to reach the summit of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak at 8,848.86 meters.

With this remarkable feat, Sakil becomes the seventh Bangladeshi to scale Everest. But more than just a physical challenge, his journey carried a message: raising awareness about environmental degradation, particularly plastic pollution.

The expedition, which began on February 25, was both a test of endurance and a symbolic call to action. Sakil reached Everest’s summit at dawn on May 19, setting a rare example of determination, resilience, and purpose.

His success marks a new milestone in Bangladesh’s mountaineering legacy.
