Bangladeshi Community to Open Major Asian Grocery Store ‘Hello Asia’ in Kansas

A new large-scale Asian grocery store, named ‘Hello Asia’, is set to open soon in Wichita, Kansas, spearheaded by the Bangladeshi immigrant community.
The foundation stone was laid at a ceremony on Monday attended by local dignitaries including Eric, President of Community Bank Augusta, Bachchu Islam, the owner of Hello Asia, representatives from MSClom Construction, and other community leaders.
Eric highlighted the important economic contributions of Bangladeshi immigrants, saying, “Bangladeshi immigrants have made significant impacts on the U.S. economy, and the country welcomes such initiatives.”
Wichita’s Asian population, now nearly 19,300, continues to grow as immigrants from various Asian backgrounds settle in the area. However, the number of Asian grocery stores remains limited. Responding to the rising demand for Asian foods—both from Asian residents and local Americans—the new store aims to become one of the largest suppliers of Asian products in the city.
Beyond business, the founders envision Hello Asia as a community space where immigrants can gather, celebrate culture, and strengthen social ties.
